Green Schools Initiative: Waste Audit - A fun student activity decreasing waste in your school

Here is an activity that can be used to make students aware of ways to reduce waste at home and at school. The goal is for students to take these waste reduction concepts and transfer them to their life at home and in the community. Empower your students to have a larger positive impact by changing the waste habits of their families and friends and the larger community.

This activity can be used in an elementary class or in a secondary class to spark an improvement campaign. Students can even design and carry out a campaign in their school or community focused on reducing waste.

Teachers can ask students to come up with better ways to:
1. Remind people to recycle
2. Differentiate recyclables from non-recyclables.
